Day 5 - Namche to Tengboche

Today kicked off with a very leasurely stroll along a mostly flat track which was a big change from the huge climb we did on day 2.  This path has been constructed by locals so we gave a donation and wrote in the visitors book. Such terrific work, lots of time and hard work has gone into its construction.

After we had stopped for lunch we had a 600m climb which actually turned out to be not so bad. We arrived into Tengboche about 3pm, the room we got is a shocker, no carpet and it was so cold in there!!  I am really feeling the cold for the first time today.

We saw an old bloke sitting by the heater in the teahouse who wasn't well at all. Apparently he was part of a group that had done a fairly large hike to base camp via another route. He is to be airlifted out of Tengboche tomorrow.

We went off to the monastery to see the monks chanting. This was good to see but we didn't know what it was about.

Still seems like a long way to get to base camp, its definitely a grind.
