Day 14 - Lukla to Kathmandu

I sit here writing this entry at this insane airport in Lukla. Planes coming in and out at a rapid rate. Pretty much as soon as one plane lands the people have hardly got off it before we are stepping aboard.  Again just looking at that runway, its a miracle that planes come in and out of here at all!

Most of the group are looking spritely today given the late night last night. I have no doubt that we are all looking forward to getting back to Kathmandu to some hot water and fresh clothes.

Took off from the airport just before 9am, good to see the wheels lift off before we ran out of tarmac!!  Flight had a little bit of turbulence as we flew quite low over a few mountains. Could not see much of the Himalaya's as there was a lot of cloud cover.  Had a very smooth touchdown in Kathmandu and gave the pilots a round of applause.  I think a few people were relieved that that flight was done with.

Waited for a nice hot shower at the hotel but was only lukewarm. That's the second time after a trek now that has happened. I remember last year in Cusco the shower wasn't hot.

Went out for our final group meal and had a "meaty max" pizza. Hopefully the meat was OK and I am not sick for the flight home.

Said a few goodbyes to those who are leaving early tomorrow morning, then went to bed.

Seasonal Fruit.....WHAT?
