Mount Cook to Queenstown

So this morning I open up the curtains and Mount Cook was again covered in low clouds. Still a spectacular sight all the same. It pretty much rained all of last night so I didn’t expect to see it in all its glory.

I spent the early morning visiting the Sir Edmund Hillary Museum at the hotel. This was a very worthwhile exercise as I got to see some old climbing gear, the tractors that he used on expeditions, and also some great photos, especially the one of he and Tenzing Norgay when they scaled Everest.

It was time to hit the road after that and it was bucketing down. We stopped into Twizel for some brekky but pretty much just pushed through. Not a whole lot to see to be honest as it was way too foggy. We went through the Lindis Pass which consisted of winding corners and steep declines and inclines. Was fun in the wet that’s for sure!!

Stopped in at the AJ Hackett Bungy jump at the Kawarau Bridge. Not bad, not as high as I expected. Might actually give it a go! (I probably won’t be saying that it’s not as high as I expected when I am on the ledge!)

Got into Queenstown late afternoon and organised our accommodation, so we are just chilling out at the minute. Booked White Water Rafting and Jetboating for tomorrow so we are super excited about that.

Sad to say that there were no nominations today for the Douchebag Parking awards but watch this space :)
